ATER Foundation

On 13 January 2020, the ATER FOUNDATION, formerly known as A.T.E.R. Associazione Teatrale Emilia Romagna, officially entered into force. The Foundation is the mirror of its territory, considering the Emilia Romagna Region as one of the most fertile and significant experiences – both live and reproduced – of the entertainment industry in terms of proposal, production, consumption and diffusion.

Building on its 50-year history of national and international cultural relations, ATER is still carrying on its original mission- to promote the development and dissemination of live entertainment – by adapting and developing it over the years to the changes and needs of the artistic and entertainment world in general, not only on the regional territory but also throughout our country.

Because of its important role as a leader in Italian cultural life and beyond, the Foundation stands as a fundamental tool for supporting and promoting performing arts in general, with reference to the realities born in the fertile substratum of the Emilia Romagna Region, with the aim of promoting them and making them known internationally. From this perspective, the Foundation becomes a point of reference and a unique platform for international partners for ten years of intense activities of cultural exchanges and tours both at regional and national level.

At the same time, the Foundation works on its regional territory by coordinating a Regional Multidisciplinary Circuit, recognized by the Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities. the Circuit is composed of many directly managed or associated Emilia-Romagna theatres, for which the Foundation deals with the programming of their various seasons (prose, children’s theatre, dance and music).

For this purpose, the relationship that the Foundation has managed to establish with the Municipal Administrations on the one hand, and with the public on the other, is extremely important, reopening or restoring small places for show that had been previously and undeservedly forgotten.
