The text “The flowers of evil or the celebration of violence” is a monologue written in 2018 and is played by the author itself in the form of a conference, following the line of auto-fiction, to which Sergio Blanco has already been devoting himself for many years.

As set, just a screen, some books, a lamp and a permanent projection of the painting Sansone blinded by the Philistines, reinterpreted by the visual artist Miguel Grompone. The work engages the audience in an exposition on violence and literature, impressive because of its depth.

The monologue falls into the celebration of literary violence that looks for beauty in evil. In fact, violence escapes the castrating morality, in order to freely project itself into poetry.

As Sergio Blanco explains: “Literature could therefore be the place that human kind has found to talk about violence. To narrate it. The literary space would therefore admit violence by poeticizing it.”

Afterwards, meeting with the audience moderated by Enrico Piergiacomi.

Free entrance subject to availability.
